Located in Minnehaha Regional Park, Minnehaha Falls is a local gem for the city of Minneapolis and a great urban waterfall. At just 15 minutes north of the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport, Minnehaha is a great way to spend half a day during any season. Not only is it in the city limits of Minneapolis, it is also easy to find once at Minnehaha Regional Park.

This is a great adventure any time during the year, and weekdays and early weekend mornings are best to avoid the crowds (arrive before 9 a.m. on the weekends). Spring and early summer bring lush greenery to the park, and reasonable temperatures can be expected May through June. Fall brings changing colors to the scenery, and later the falls turn into a winter wonderland once they freeze over in winter.

Once you arrive at the park there are several pathways that lead to a footbridge over Minnehaha Creek at the top of the falls. There are also paths and stairs on each side of the creek that lead to another footbridge at the base. For the adventurous, it is possible to walk behind the falls with caution. One of the best times to adventure behind the falls is once the falls have frozen over and it has become a natural ice castle.

Minnehaha Regional Park is also home to a variety of other amenities such as playgrounds, picnic tables, and the Sea Salt Eatery, where one can grab a bite to eat.
