The Many Glacier area is rightfully one of the most popular areas of Glacier National Park. Heavy visitation in 2017 even required closing the road into Many Glacier due to a lack of parking in the dead-end valley. Camping at the Many Glacier Campground is one way to avoid some of the congestion and have easy access to trails.

The campground is a fairly large one, set up in a rectangular grid of roads. There is a generator-free area and about a quarter of the sites are designated as “possible” for RVs up to 35 feet. This is really more of a tent and small RV campground though, and the heavy vegetation offers a lot of privacy for tent campers. There are flush toilets, an amphitheater for campfire programs and a small camp store and restaurant.

The hiking from this campground is really spectacular and includes the Iceberg-Ptarmigan Trail, Grinnell Glacier Trail and Swiftcurrent Pass Trail. For a special dinner after a day of hiking, the Many Glacier Hotel has a fine restaurant.

Many Glacier is one of the few campgrounds in Glacier that takes reservations, with half of the sites still first-come, first-served.
