Spring Gulch Campground is a small, well-maintained campground right off U.S. Highway 93 just north of Sula, Montana. The campground is closely situated to numerous outdoor activities, with access to fly fishing the East Fork of the Bitterroot River just steps away from your campsite.

The campsites are under tall ponderosa pines and in the morning shadow of a rocky hillside. The nine sites are large, each equipped with their own picnic table and fire ring. Sites two and four are ADA accessible. All sites can be reserved online (except for the day use group picnic area). Those that go unreserved are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Two vault toilets and a well are available at the campground.

The river flows adjacent to the campground and has several access points for visitors, including a large wooden fishing dock. Test your fishing skill on the river’s brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout.

Noise from the highway occasionally overtakes the sound of the river during daytime hours. Luckily, the frequency of noise is kept low due to the campground’s distance from any big towns. At night, highway noise was negligible.

Since the campground is relatively remote, you’ll need to make sure you’re well-stocked on camping items. A small general store and gas station is available in Sula, but your best bet for supplies is 32 miles up-road in Hamilton.
