Going-to-the-Sun Road is on the short list of every visitor to Glacier National Park. The scenery is beyond spectacular, and there are several overlooks and turnouts all along the road. One spot to consider stopping is the short nature trail and picnic area known as Sun Point. This stop is located about half way up the shore of Lake Mary from the east park entrance.

For the price of little more than a stroll, one can get a panoramic view of both ends of the lake from one of the most prominent points on the lake. There is a very spacious parking lot, which is often occupied by tour buses and vans or one of the signature red vintage touring cars seen all around the park. Very short trails fan out to spots on the point and many vantage points are available. There is a large picnic area, though it is located closer to the road rather than the lake.
