Cave Lake State Park is a year-round park exceeding 4,000 acres in Eastern Nevada offering a diverse array of activities, depending on the season. Centered around the 32-acre Cave Lake Reservoir, the park offers boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming and fishing opportunities. Winter ice-fishing is a popular activity when the cold settles over the park, and a variety of hiking trails varying in length and difficulty network throughout the park. The lake maintains a boat ramp for motorized boats as well as a non-motorized craft access point for kayaks, paddleboards, and float tubes on the opposite side of the lake.

Two first-come, first-served campgrounds are located in the park: Lake View Campground is open year round, dependingo on conditions, and is located adjacent to the lake, while the seasonal Elk Flat Campground is just outside of the core area of the park.

The lake has populations of brown and rainbow trout, and it has a floating dock for swimmers to rest on or jump off of. Fishing along the banks is popular as well. The day-use area offers tables, bathrooms with running water, and dispersed trailheads serving the different trails in the park. These include the strenuous Cave Lake Overlook Loop Trail, the Cave Springs Loop Trail, the gradually climbing Steptoe Creek Trail along the road entering the park, and the newer Twisted Pines Trail for those looking to access the further reaches of the park's high elevation areas.

Park fees include a $5 per vehicle entry fee, $10 boat launch fee, $15 nightly camping fee, or $20 for all three combined. A ranger shack near the pay station offers park maps and brochures, and attendant rangers can answer questions about the park. Additionally, the park can be contacted at 775.728.4467 or by emailing [email protected].
