Chief Mountain South Campground is located off Highway 93, about half a mile down a dirt road (no 4x4 needed). The campground makes a good overnight stop for those traveling through the area, but is also a popular destination for those looking to ride the OHV trails located here. The Silver State Off-Highway Vehicle Trail can be accessed from the campground. This 260 mile trail loops through the Nevada backcountry and is the first Congressionally-designated off-highway vehicle trail ever.

There is room for about half a dozen campers at Chief Mountain South Campground. There are shade shelters at 3 campsites, including one large site. You’ll find picnic tables, fire rings and grills at the campsites. There are no other amenities besides a vault toilet.

The campground is open year round. Campsites are first come, first served with no reservations possible. There is no fee for camping here.
