The Huffaker Mountain Loop is a 1.7 mile trail with several trailheads around some of the undeveloped hills inside a south Reno neighborhood.

The Huffaker hills are visible from the freeway, and a wide gravel path circles the landscape, giving some nice vantage points of the surrounding landmarks. From the casinos of downtown Reno, the silhouette of Peavine Peak to the north, Mount Rose and the Sierra Nevada to the west, to the sprawl of Reno's growing development footprint to the south.

While the path follows a course of continually rising and falling along its route, the slopes are gradual and the paths are wide, making this a great walking or jogging loop for nearly all ability levels. There are a few spots worth stopping at along the way, such as the picnic benches with views of Mount Rose, the shade gazebo, or benches set along the trail with nice vistas across the Reno skyline. Another trail bisects the loop, allowing hikers to cut some distance if they'd like to head right over the peak to the other side.

There are a few different trailheads around the loop, however the easiest to find would be the one lying at the back of Huffaker Park, a quaint neighborhood park.

Those looking for a nice walk without needing to drive out of town will likely enjoy this trail.

There is no shade along the route, and the only amenities are those located in the park beneath.
