Sportsman's Beach Day Use Area and Campground is the southernmost of three adjacent campgrounds (neighbor to Twenty Mile Beach Campground and Tamarack Beach Campground) along Walker Lake's northeastern shore.

Of the three BLM-managed campgrounds, Sportsman's Beach is the only one containing any amenities, including lake access, fire rings and picnic benches, so it tends to see the most crowds, though visitors should note that there is no water at this spot. Sportsman's Beach is made up of three distinct sections - an upper section with covered picnic benches overlooking the lake, a boat ramp area with vault toilets and picnic benches, and a camping area suitable for lengthy RVs and smaller RVs and passenger cars in the loop road.

Signs along the hard gravel road point out the declining lake levels over the past 140 years, which is also the reason for the lack of trees in the area. A pay station sits between the first wide gravel RV pullout and the camp site loop, and this pay station also serves the other two campgrounds.

Day use is free, including the boat launch. You can expect a crowd on holiday weekends, but the campground usually stays uncrowded at any other time.

Nightly cost is $6, or $36 weekly, which is must be paid at the pay station near the camp site entrance. The nearest groceries and gas facilities are located 16 miles south in Hawthorne.
