The Tule Trail is a short and generally flat trail leading out to a wetlands area and a blind that can be used for viewing the variety of bird and waterfowl that use this part of the refuge.

The 1.5 mile trail leaves the parking area and heads along an irrigation canal, passing a series of interpretive signs geared toward children explaining the history of the area as well as displaying some of the species of birds and wildlife that will likely be seen in the area. Signage generally directs trail users to follow the canal before arriving at the wetlands at .75 miles.

At the edge of the wetlands is an observation blind, allowing visitors to conceal themselves inside and watch the numerous species of birds who use the wetlands area. White-faced ibis were visible in the area during our hike, and signs mention that this area is frequented by coyotes who will likely remain hidden from people.

Along the way, there are a couple benches, however visitors may want to visit the trail in the morning or evening, as there is also no shade along the hike.

The trail is a hardpacked gravel. Those not wanting to make the walk can also sit at the bench facing a smaller wetlands area in the parking lot.

Dogs are permitted on leash. There is a vault toilet in the parking area. There is no water available here, or anywhere else in the wildlife refuge.
