Doublehead Mountain in Jackson, New Hampshire, features two peaks: North Doublehead (3,053 feet) and South Doublehead (2,939 feet). The Ski Trail was made by the Saco Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934. The trail offers a winding route on the northeast side of North Doublehead with trail width varying from 15 to 25 feet and an average pitch of 20º degrees. This is a great trail for skiing, snowboarding, hiking and snowshoeing. It is featured on the list of New Hampshire's 52 With a View.

Doublehead Ski Trail runs somewhat parallel with the Old Path for the first 0.6 miles.  The trail starts off very level until splitting off at the intersection of Old Path and Ski Trail. Staying to the left at the junction will bring you up to Doublehead Cabin. The cabin was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and is available for $20 a night through the Forest Service. It has eight bunks, two tables, a woodstove and an outhouse. Water and electricity are not available. Behind the cabin is a viewpoint.

To continue your hike to South Doublehead, take the Old Path and travel south. You will lose and gain elevation between the two peaks, and it is quite steep in some areas. The Old Path levels out and brings you to a ledge overlooking the White Mountains.  This offers stunning views of the Presidential mountains, Carter Notch, and Pinkham Notch. Retrace your steps back to the top of the Ski Trail to ski or hike back down!
