Lady’s Bathtub Swimming Area offers scenic swimming in the east branch of the Pemigewasset River without leaving town. The parking for this river access is on private property at the Riverfront Condominiums, so you’ll want to be sure you only park in the small, signed lot by the tennis courts.

First and foremost, keep in mind that this is a residential area, and you are responsible for maintaining Leave No Trace ethics. Be respectful of private property and keep your group small. Do not bring alcohol or glass containers. Pack out any and all trash, including pet waste. This swimming hole can get crowded on hot summer days, so consider visiting one of the many spots along this river just outside of town as an alternative.

A short trail leaves the parking lot and heads through a few trees toward the river and down a set of wooden steps. The stairs lead you out to a large open rock, which slopes slightly toward the water. Some rocks may be slippery and make it harder to climb out of the river. No lifeguard is on duty so swimming is at your own risk. A playground of rocks provides places to sit both in and beside the river. The bright green color of the water adds to the natural beauty of this area.
