Santa Fe is a very popular destination for tourists of all stripes. From art lovers to history buffs to outdoor enthusiasts, Santa Fe has attractions for all. The options for camping are pretty limited, however. A hugely popular option for those who prefer a public campground to a commercial RV park is the beautiful Black Canyon Campground.

Located in a beautiful forested area just 8 miles from the bustle and amenities of Santa Fe, Black Canyon is heavily in demand. For those lucky enough to snag a space here, the rewards include large, private, paved spaces with nice paved living space and large graded tent pads. The campground is very peaceful and quiet day and night, and the facilities are very well maintained and clean. There is one main loop for the RV/tent sites and six walk-in tent sites near the entrance (note that some of the sites are a pretty long walk from the parking area).

There are two trailheads in the campground, so nice hiking is convenient. The adjacent Hyde Memorial State Park has more hiking options, as does the road up to the nearby ski area.
