This 1.4-mile loop is an excellent way to learn about the early inhabitants of this area. The trail starts out and hikers will walk through the Tyuonyi Pueblo en route to the cliff dwellings. This dwelling would have house around 100 people when it was still in use and housed three kivas. After walking through the pueblo the trail leads towards the cliff dwellings. Over the next three-quarters of a mile the trail follows cliff dwellings, and hikers can climb into the cave rooms. After a series of cave rooms hikers will find the Long House, which is where people can see some of the petroglyphs that are in the park. After visitors see the Long House they can return the the visitor center via the return trail, part of which is shaded and provides hikers with some relief from the sunl. This is a great trail to learn about the people who once lived in the region.
