Fish Creek Pond State Park began as a campground in 1920 when the Conservation Commission began building camping sites along the shores of Fish Creek Pond. Since then, it has become a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. The beautiful pond allows for many boating opportunities and makes a great place to cool off or picnic. The campground offers a picnic area, and a sandy beach and playground are available for day users. The state park also features hiking trails and serves as the start for many people’s canoe trips.

Most visitors focus their day around the swimming area. A large playground and picnic area make a good home base. Picnic tables, a shelter, and several grills are available. Changing rooms and restrooms can be found right next to the beach parking area.

Popular hiking trails beginning in the park include the 7.7-mile Floodwood Pond Loop and the 10.6-mile Otter Hollow Loop. Both meander through the woods, linking several glacial ponds and rolling terrain. Floodwood Pond Loop begins and ends opposite of campsite 23. Otter Hollow begins and ends near campsite 104. Other hikes nearby include Ampersand Mountain, St. Regis Mountain, and Azure Mountain.

Paddlers will find access to Follensby Clear Pond, Whey Pond and Little Square Pond with short portages. Upper Saranac Lake is accessible via a winding channel on the east end of Fish Creek Pond.

Day use access is $8 per car. Dogs must be kept on a leash six feet or shorter.
