Lake Clear is aptly-named, and this swimming hole tucked away on an unnamed road has long been a local favorite. Despite ample parking, it’s common to find vehicles lining the road on a hot summer day.

A short walk through the woods along a well-traveled path leads to a wide-open sandy beach. The beach extends to the right and left, with more secluded pockets toward the left end. A handful of trees on the forest edge can make excellent hammock locations.

It’s common to see people canoeing, kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding on the lake. The beach is a great access point for such activities. Swimming in the clear waters is the main attraction for most visitors. The water deepens very gradually, making it a great place for families with young children. The water is relatively warm, especially toward the end of the summer when the lake has had time to absorb the heat from the sun. Keep in mind there are no lifeguards here.

The beach faces west, making it an excellent location for sunsets. The crowds usually thin out by this time as well, so if you don’t mind making the short walk back to the car in the dark, this is the time to go.

The beach is dog friendly, so be sure to bring your four-legged friends to play in the water.
