With 199 sites, Cape Point Campground is the largest campground in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Centrally located near Cape Point Beach, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the towns of Buxton and Hatteras, this is a great place to pitch your tent for a night or two.
Unlike the nearby Frisco Beach Campground, Cape Point Campground is in a more compact area. It's open and grassy with four restroom and shower buildings, providing an easy camping experience. Each site is allowed six persons and two cars. Visitors can walk or take a quick drive to Cape Point Beach, where there is also an off-road vehicle ramp for driving on the beach. If you choose to drive on the beach, make sure you pick up a permit at one of the park's visitors centers or print one online.
Cape Point Campground is open from late April to late November. With so much to do in the area, camping here is an easy choice.
