Barnes Warm Springs

This solitary warm springs is situated near Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and the town of Frenchglen. Barnes Spring can be accessed via a short 0.8-mile walk down a gated gravel road. The small warm springs has a nice gravel and sand bottom, and it is hidden in the grass and boulders near an abandoned homestead. It’s the perfect pool for a summer evening after a long day of bird watching, fly fishing, or trekking around the Steens Mountains or the Malheur wildlife areas.

Additionally, the spring is conveniently located within walking distance of the historic Frenchglen Hotel and State Heritage site. Don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by deer, antelope or a variety of birds.
