Big Bend Campground is one of the several BLM campgrounds located along this stretch of the Crooked River. It is the closest campground to Bowman Dam and Prineville Reservoir. The rugged, high canyon walls add to the remote feeling of this area, not to mention the beauty. And of course the Wild and Scenic Crooked River is a main attraction here and runs right beside the campground. The Crooked is a fly fisherman’s paradise and you’ll certainly see a handful of fishermen wading in the river on any given day as you drive up the canyon. This stretch of the Crooked River is also a great place to watch for wildlife including big game and birds such as eagles.

Big Bend Campground offers 15 campsites near the Crooked River. Of these 15 sites there is one group site and three walk in sites. There is also an ADA accessible site. Additionally, there is a day use area here as this is a popular spot to fish.

Campsites at Big Bend are less primitive feeling than at the campgrounds found further down the canyon. A picnic table and fire ring are found at each campsite. There is also a vault toilet located within the campground and drinking water available during the warmer spring and summer months. The campground is open year round and all campsites are first come, first served with no reservations possible. As of September 2021 the nightly rate is $8.
