The south side of Broken Top has many classic ski lines with great views of Mount Bachelor, Mount Thielsen, and Diamond Peak. There are several ski lines off of the summit ridge of Broken Top, many of which reference a clock to describe their location within the bowl. 3:00, 11:00, and 9:00 colouirs are the obvious lines that feed down to the same bowl.

Because of the south-facing aspect, these lines are best skied in spring corn conditions or during winter cold spells. Most people will use a snowmobile to cut out a portion of the approach until hitting the wilderness boundary near Todd Lake. The 7-mile approach can be done in one day, but it is best enjoyed as an overnight trip to take full advantage of the skiing.

From the Flying Duchman Sno-Park, you'll follow Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway for 1.8 miles to the junction with Todd Lake Road. Proceed to Todd Lake and continue around the west shore. From the northeast end of the lake continue north through the forest, and be sure you are equipped with navigational aids such as a GPS and map and compass. The forest clears out at about 6,800 feet, making for plenty of great opportunities to set up camp.
