Castle Rock Campground is one of the several BLM campgrounds located along this stretch of the Crooked River. Castle Rock is the first campground you’ll arrive at if traveling from Prineville. The rugged, high canyon walls add to the remote feeling of this area, not to mention the beauty. And of course the Wild and Scenic Crooked River is a main attraction here and runs right beside the campground. The Crooked is a fly fisherman’s paradise and you’ll certainly see a handful of fishermen wading in the river on any given day as you drive up the canyon. This stretch of the Crooked River is also a great place to watch for wildlife including big game and birds such as eagles.

Castle Rock is a bare bones campground that offers 6 campsites. A picnic table and fire ring are found at each campsite. There is also a vault toilet located within the campground, but no drinking water (be sure to bring your own). The campground is open year round and all campsites are first come, first served with no reservations possible. As of September 2021 the nightly rate is $8.
