Tucked away in the upper arm of Detroit Lake on the reservoir's eastern end, Hoover Campground is located and designed with fishing in mind.  The campground's boat ramp and day use dock are ideal for boaters hoping to access the reservoir's open waters, but it is also good for anglers who are looking for an easy launching point to access the North Santiam River.  Further, the campground features a 340-foot fishing pier adjacent to the boat ramp and day use area as well as several fishing docks that are accessible via a short trail on the campground's northwestern end (the trailhead is next to campsite 6).

As for the campground itself, all 32 campsites are shaded by a thick forest of second growth Douglas fir.  Each of the sites are relatively spacious, particularly the campground's four double/group sites (each featuring two picnic tables) and its official group site, located just east of the campground's main entrance off of Blowout Road.

Note: Hoover Campground is open April 18 through September 29.  Be sure to camp here early in the season (before August) to take advantage of the campground's fishing pier and docks.  Low water levels leave the platforms standing over dry ground by late summer.
