This campground is set alongside Devils Lake's phenomenally radiant, turquoise water. The water is shallow, and therefore it is relatively warm. In addition to the lake attraction, some of the best hiking trails in Oregon start from the parking lot, and with a NW Forest Pass, camping is free. However, there are some downsides to this campground: you can't make reservations, there is no access to potable water, there are only 10 sites, and half of them don't have a picnic table. Also worth noting is that you are always within earshot of cars passing on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway.

Regardless of how the pros and cons balance, Devils Lake is located smack-dab in the epicenter of some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities around, and the campground is an excellent base camp for you to take it all in.
