While exploring the Westview Snow Trail System, be sure to check out the Diamond View Loop. This short and moderately steep trail takes you to the highest point in the area with a clear view of Diamond Peak (the view from the Odell Overlook Trail is somewhat obstructed by the trees).

There are a few options to reach the Diamond View Loop from the Gold Lake Sno-Park, and both start from the south end of the parking area. Westview Trail and CJ Way, which is steeper and hazardous during icy conditions, both lead to the loop, and both are well marked. From the Diamond View Loop you can continue to Eagle Rock and view Odell Lake. For a longer adventure you can follow the trails toward Westview Shelter or even farther out to Bechtel Shelter

The Gold Lake Sno-Park offers parking (a Sno-Park permit is required), a warming hut that is staffed by friendly ski patrol volunteers on the weekends, maps for sale, and vault toilets.
