Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site is a great place to access a sandy stretch of beach located between Newport and Waldport along the Central Oregon Coast. The day use wayside includes picnic tables, viewpoints with benches, a large parking area with room for RVs, and restroom facilities. The parking lot and restroom facilities are wheelchair accessible.

From the parking lot, you can follow the very short path to the beach to watch for wildlife such as shore birds and harbor seals. Or explore the flat beach for driftwood, shells, and even fossils.

As the name implies, you will find driftwood on the beach. It can be fun to collect and play around, but remember that ocean waves are strong enough to lift the largest of logs, and that unstable pieces can be hazardous to play on. If you see logs in the surf, be sure to keep your distance.
