The Fall River is one of many natural treasures of Central Oregon, with some of the calmest, clearest water one could find anywhere and far fewer crowds than anywhere else in the rest of the Cascade Lakes region. The adjacent campground shares similar qualities as the river for which it is named; while it is hidden in plain sight off of South Century Drive, it is one of the quietest campgrounds in all of Central Oregon. Many campsite options are available for campers, each offering plenty of space far from the few neighbors one might encounter staying at Fall River. Most of the sites do not face the river itself, but the ones that do are truly some of the prettiest in the entire region.

There are some obvious reasons for the low traffic of Fall River Campground compared to the other campgrounds nearby, like those on the Twin Lakes. For one, anything interesting besides the Fall River is at least a 10 mile drive away from the campground. In addition, the Fall River offers little more than a nice view. Fly fishing is difficult, the river is far too shallow for boating or even kayaking, and it is quite cold for wading by most people's standards. However, the Fall River Trail offers a very nice (although short) stroll through the surrounding area, and the campground itself is accessible for the majority of the year, unlike most of the other campgrounds farther up the road at higher elevations.
