Trying to find an elevated lookout along Highway 101 with an exceptional view over the Oregon Coast? Do you have a glider that you would like to launch from an elevated site for a landing on a beach along the Oregon Coast? If either of these options are what you’re looking for, or if you’re in search of the rare destination along the Oregon Coast that allows you to combine these things, Gammon Launch is where you need to be.

Located just a mile south of Cape Lookout State Park, Gammon Launch is best described as a roadside pullout. Photographers and gliders alike should appreciate the easy access and correspondingly expansive views created by the wide opening in the trees.

For the gilders, the landing zone is the beach between the launch and the Cape Lookout State Park Campground to the north. Be aware that parking at this destination is limited, and it is common for a crowd to gather to watch a glider launch. In addition, be sure to purchase a permit before driving into Cape Lookout State Park; land near the day use area and avoid landing and breaking down equipment near the camping area.

Always heard this referred to as Anderson Viewpoint due to the Billy Anderson memorial there. Never heard of Gammon Launch?
