Situated in the Southern Oregon Cascades at the foot of Hemlock Butte lies this cozy, rustic, three-story, A-frame cabin. The cabin is popular with backcountry skiers due to its proximity to the base of Mount Bailey.

The cabin was built by the Edelweiss Ski Club in 1990 before being handed over to the Forest Service for repairs and management. The cabin features a central wood stove for heating and melting snow for water as there is no potable water on site. There are a few benches and a small table on the ground floor next to the stove. Firewood is provided inside the cabin as well as in a rear room that also houses the privy. Remember to bring toilet paper and a lamp because there is no electricity! The second story is a sleeping area where people can lay their own bedding on the floor. An additional sleeping area can be found on the smaller third story. The cabin can accommodate up to 12 people, and reservations are possible through Recreation.gov. Note that if you do not reserve the entire 12 spots, other people can reserve the remaining spots.

The Hemlock Butte Trail begins about 2 miles up the Three Lakes Sno-Park (NF-3703, shared with snowmobiles). Take a right turn at the first intersection on the Bailey Connect Trail (NF-300). Ski east for about 0.2 miles to the beginning of the Hemlock Butte Trail (NF-380) on the left, which is marked by a skier symbol. The cabin is ahead after another 1.6 miles of backcountry skiing or snowshoeing.
