Mallard Marsh Campground and Hosmer Lake South Campground combine to provide 38 campsites to support the steady flow of visitors, paddlers, and anglers who come to Hosmer Lake each year.  Hosmer Lake is considered one of the most unique and multifaceted bodies of water in Oregon's Cascade Lakes area.  Just like the South Campground, Mallard Marsh Campground has large and relatively private sites, and half of them overlook the lake's marshy perimeter as well as nearby Mount Bachelor.  If you are traveling for the weekend, you may have to set up camp as early as Friday morning or even Thursday evening in order to get a spot, as the campground is managed on a first-come first-served basis.

Attention!:  In recent years the overwhelming popularity of the lake amongst paddlers has begun to take a toll on the lake's once abundant wildlife.  Spotting wildlife such as river otter is now rare, and conversations with campground hosts in the summer of 2012 revealed that numerous species of birds which once frequented the marshy lake hadn't been recorded in over four years.  Please, when visiting this pristine lake, be sure to respect the native wildlife by keeping your distance and remaining quiet.

Note: Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway is only open during the summer months, typically from late June to early November, but it varies based on snowpack.  See ODOT for highway opening and closure updates.

Campsites have enough space for tents and cars. Also very quiet and easy to access to the lake.
