Nestled on a small stretch of beach on the northeast corner of Davis Lake between a gigantic lava flow and a steep hill, the aptly named Lava Flow Campground is in a location truly hidden in plain sight. Located right off of Cascade Lakes Highway, Lava Flow Campground is essentially a collection of picnic tables in a flat area of otherwise unforgiving terrain. There is no camp host, no potable water, no driveways, no fire rings—all things characteristic to most of the campgrounds in the Cascade Lakes Region. However, there are also no crowds, and there is no fee to camp at Lava Flow Campground.

The trademark feature of Lava Flow Campground is a behemoth lava flow towering a 100 feet above the area. It is a one-of-a-kind backdrop that makes the otherwise ordinary campground incredibly unique. The lava flow is not navigable from the campground, and the rocks are sharp and jagged. For campers with curious children or animals, the campground may not be a good destination. Another thing to note is that the boat launch is more of a beach and is geared more toward drift boats or kayaks trying to launch.
