Close to Florence, Lily Lake Trail is a nice place to explore the Oregon Dunes without the large crowds that flock to the other, more popular spots along the coast.

The loop trail starts just east of the parking area and heads north towards the lake. The first section of trail is in the shade of the coastal forest, but it opens up about a third of the way in with views of the dunes and lake. There’s no easy access to the small lake, for which the trail is named, and eventually the trail turns west with views of the beach before returning to the parking area. The hike can be made longer by continuing to Baker Beach or by taking the Berry Creek Trail, which parallels the Lily Lake Trail.

The trailhead is located in the Baker Beach Campground and includes parking, a vault toilet, and pay station. The area is also popular with horseback riders, so be sure to watch where you step!
