Lost Prairie Campground is a small, 10-site area just off of Highway 20.  Situated just above Hackleman Creek, several sites enjoy a close proximity to the water.  All sites are shaded by the mature Douglas firs throughout the campground, and the site is far enough removed from the highway that road noise shouldn’t be an issue.  The distribution of the sites allow for some space between clusters of sites, meaning that unless the place is packed it should be possible to find a spot with some privacy.  Alternately, if you are camping with a small group, taking a pair of sites would be ideal.  And if you have a large group, you can call Linn County Parks and Recreation (541.967.3917) to rent out this entire campground for $125 per night!

In addition to the activities on the McKenzie Corridor, this campground is close to the Iron Mountain Trail and the Cone Peak Trail.  Also consider hiking the Old Santiam Wagon Trail, which used to run right through the campground.

Most of the sites here are tent only, and three would require a short walk from your car past other sites (these are the three that are also closest to the creek). There is one ADA site.  The campground is open from the end of May through the end of October.  Aside from booking the enitre campground, sites are all first-come, first-served.
