McVay Rock Beach is a hidden park that is great for surf-fishing, clamming, and tide pooling. Surrounding the parking area is a large lawn overlooking the ocean and a couple of disc golf baskets, perfect for practicing your disc golf skills. There is also an off-leash dog exercise area for your furry companions to run about.

The beach is composed of small pebbles rather than actual sand, but it is still a great place to stroll along the coast. To the south of the parking area you will see a massive tree trunk that has seemed to find a resting place on the beach. Several large tide pool areas are also found here where visitors can explore the mysteries of the intertidal zones. Keep your eye out for shore crabs scurrying through the high tide zone, sea stars clinging to rocks of the mid-tide zone, hermit crabs battling one another in the low tide pools, and spiny urchins nestled in the sub-tide zone. While exploring the depths of these pools, remember to walk carefully and refrain from moving any rocks or organisms in order to help and preserve the habitat.
