Minto-Brown Island Park is the largest park in Salem at over 1,200 acres. Located along the Willamette River floodplain, the park features many sloughs, ponds, and wetlands, as well as wide open meadows and forested areas. The park is also a sanctuary for birds and animals that inhabit wetland areas such as osprey, blue heron, squirrels, and rabbits.

There are over 29 miles of trail in the park. Most of these trails are paved and make for excellent biking or skating. Nine different loops can be created by linking these trails together, the longest being a 10-kilometer loop. In addition to these trails, the recent construction of the Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge links Minto-Brown Island Park with nearby Riverfront Park—allowing for even more miles of walking and biking.

Within the park are a couple of small areas with picnic tables (including a picnic shelter that can be reserved). There is also a large, 30-acre off-leash dog area for your four-legged friends to enjoy. Numerous places to fish can also be found along the Willamette River and at small ponds within the park.
