North Santiam State Recreation Area is a lovely, small state park located on the North Santiam River. The park provides easy river access for fishing and boating, as well as 2.4 miles of hiking trails. There is also a large day-use area with picnic tables and a reservable shelter.

Camping at North Santiam Campground is available by boat-in or hike-in access only, although it’s a very short stroll from the parking lot to the campsites. All of the tent sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservations. Please note that, while the state park is open year round, camping at North Santiam Campground is only allowed May 1 to September 30. In addition to easy river access for boating and fishing, nearby Detroit Lake and the Central Cascades offer additional recreational opportunities.
