Situated on both sides of the scenic Sandy River just a few minutes from Portland, Oxbow Regional Park offers an amazing escape from the urban environment that is suitable for the whole family (minus the pooch - no dogs allowed).  With its full-service campground, the 1,000-acre nature park offers some of Portland's closest camping.  The park is also a great place to fish or to launch your innertube for a float on the Sandy River.  In addition to the 12 miles of nature trails that include the Oxbow Nature Trail, there are plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing, picnicking, or enjoying an afternoon by the water.  You can also attend environmental education workshops or host a group event - large picnic shelters and pavilions are available for group activities. My brother was working here for a year, so I went and visited him to check it out. Great place...
