With only seven campsites, Pine Rest Campground is a humble area. What it doesn't offer in amenities, however, it makes up for by offering direct access to the Metolius River.  From the campsites you can also hop onto the Metolius River Trail, which extends south to Camp Sherman and picks up northbound at Canyon Creek Campground.

Once you've exhausted the River Trail and caught your limit of kokanee* and trout, be sure to check out the mysterious Metolius River Spring, take a hike to the summit Black Butte, and check out one of late summer's best collections of wildflowers at Canyon Creek Meadows at the base of Three Fingered Jack.

* Kokanee, a local favorite amongst anglers, is actually sockeye salmon that's become landlocked by downstream dams.

Note: Pine Rest Campground is open year-round.
