Visitors of all ages and physical abilities can enjoy the short interpretive trail at Rimrock Springs Wildlife Management Area. A 1.5-mile loop crosses sage and juniper desert along a combination of paved and gravel walkways. Two wooden platforms perch above broad viewpoints of the surrounding area. In the grassy fields and wetlands seen here, look for deer, pronghorn and migratory birds. And at a mountain viewing area, see the snow-capped Cascades mountains all lined up in a row.

Along the way, pause at the interpretive signs to learn more about the landscape and the fauna and flora that call it home. Watch the activity change from season to season. Spring and early summer bring colorful wildflower blooms and several species of nesting waterbirds. Bats fly overhead on warm, summer evenings, and wintering herds of pronghorn graze here throughout the coldest months.

Since this small preserve is located off on its own, it doesn't receive many visitors. You'll likely have this peaceful place to yourself. Bring a picnic lunch, binoculars and sunscreen to make the most out of your visit.
