The out-and-back ride from Skull Hollow Campground to the top of Burma Road offers a generous helping of fast, smooth singletrack with the added reward of amazing views of Smith Rock and the Cascades at the turn around point. The route climbs gently up a dirt road before jumping onto a perfectly smooth trail that follows a ridge out to an overlook above Smith Rock State Park. On the return trip, instead of taking the road back down, there is a great downhill trail that flows all the way back to the campground. Ride this one at dawn in the summer to beat the heat, or take extra water. The soil in this area becomes unrideable after a rain and during the spring thaw. Keep an eye out for cattle and horseback riders, and be sure to close any gates behind you.
