Strawberry Mountain Wilderness is a great place for one-day or extended horseback riding trips. Many of the area's trails allow equestrian use, and with little congestion it'll often feel like you have the area to yourself. For equestrians, access into the northern sections the wilderness is achieved via the The Slide Creek Trail and Onion Creek Trail, both of which depart from nearby the Slide Creek Horse Camp, a basic campground with three sites and accompanying a horse corrals.

Each campsite is well spaced from its neighbor, and each has a barbecue pit and picnic table. There is plenty of room to back a horse trailer into each site. A vault toilet is the only other amenity at the site, so bring all of the potable water you'll need for your visit. If you are visiting with a large group and want some extra space to camp, the equally primitive 3-site Slide Creek Campground is just up the road on the left. All of the campsites along this road into the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness are first-come, first-served, but given the few visitors to the area, finding a site should not be a problem even during holiday summer weekends.
