South Shore is one of three campgrounds situated on the south side of Suttle Lake. The Douglas fir, ponderosa pines, 3,400-foot elevation, and glacial lake breezes make this a cool retreat in the heat of summer. The lake is ideal for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, waterskiing, and wind surfing. Motorized and non-motorized boat rentals are available nearby at The Lodge at Suttle Lake. There is a $5 day-use fee if you prefer to not spend the night but would still like to access the lake.

About a third of the 38 non-electic sites are located on the shoreline, and the rest are nestled in the trees on the hillside. All of the sites have a picnic table, fire ring, and beautiful lake view. This campground is open from May through mid-September. Reservations must be made four days in advance and are available up to six months in advance. Blue Bay and Link Creek are good alternatives on Suttle Lake if South Shore is full. Restrooms and potable water are centrally located for all sites.
