Tualatin River Greenway Trail

The Tualatin River Greenway Trail is an easily accessible path that parallels the Tualatin River just outside of downtown Tualatin, Oregon. You can easily choose your own adventure along this trail, but hiking from Tualatin Community Park to Cook Park and back is an enjoyable ~3 mile walk.

The trail begins by skirting behind a couple community center buildings. The paved pathway continues though the park, passing a playground, restrooms and picnic areas. Soon thereafter the trail continues past a boat ramp and under an interesting railway bridge.

You’ll then have the option to select a few different pathways, an unpaved trail leading close beside the river is the most scenic. Eventually you’ll come to and cross the Ki-a-Kuts Pedestrian Bridge - named after a spokesman for the Atfalati band of the Kalapuya Native Americans. Ki-a-Kuts spoke out for friendship and trust between Native Americans and 1850s settlers that came to the area.

After crossing the pedestrian bridge you will have entered Durham City Park. Take the next left to continue into Cook Park along the paved greenway. Cook Park is a sizable area with playgrounds, picnic areas, a baseball diamond and of course scenic views of the Tualatin River. A handful of more primitive trails here offer the chance to get off the paved greenway and closer to the river. Once you’ve enjoyed Cook Park, turn around and return the way you came back to Tualatin Community Park.
