Of the several access points to Fall Creek Reservoir, Winberry State Recreation Area is the most developed and most broadly appealing.  While the North Shore ramp and the sundry free day use areas along the northern side of the reservoir are primarily designed for water access, Winberry features prime water access in addition to an assortment of amenities for general, land-based recreation.

Large, open fields can accommodate large group gatherings, and picnic tables and fire pits make the area the best option for a day at the reservoir if you are shore-based.  Horseshoes and shade beckon toward the western end of the site, while the public docks that are well-suited for fishing and swimming are more centrally located.  Flush toilets and potable water are available, and Winberry has an enormous capacity for boat traffic, boasting not only a large ramp but also wide traffic circles and plenty of parking for trailers.

Note that because of fluctuating water levels, not all access to Fall Creek Reservoir is available at all times.  The swimming and fishing docks at Winberry, for intstance, were closed for this visit, as was the boat ramp at Cascara Campground.  Winberry and North Shore are the most reliable boat ramps, though even these close along with all other access areas from the end of September to the end of April.
