Tucked within the southern corner of Point Reyes National Seashore is a small stretch of pebbly shore called Palomarin Beach. A nice spot for family outings, lazy days, or a side trip while out on longer hikes in the area, Palomarin beach can be a delightful Marin beach to soak up some sun on a warm, high-pressure day. The beach is accessed via the Palomarin Trailhead located at the end of Mesa Road and consists of a semi-cove and point shoreline that extends to the northwest. There is really no soft sand here, so consider bringing a beach chair or blanket for some padding as the pebbles making up the beach range from small to fairly large.

The beach access trail branches off from the main Coast Trail at a eucalyptus grove about 100 yards from the Palomarin Trailhead. The half-mile trail switchbacks once or twice before dropping into a small, broad valley that takes you to the beach. Palomarin Beach is the first publicly accessible beach north of the small coastal town of Bolinas and the last safe beach access until you reach Alamere Falls 4 miles to the north.
