Aruba's Pet Cemetery Beach is likely the most unique beach experience you'll have on the island.
Located down a dirt road past Baby Beach, Pet Cemetery Beach is set along a mile-long stretch of land near the island's southeastern point. The beach itself is a white sand length of shoreline fronting typically rough waters. The beach isn't great for swimming or snorkeling, but the sands tend to be free of crowds and fairly quiet given the large amount of space and the few visitors.
The pet cemetery originated about 100 years ago when employees of the Lago Oil Refinery lived in the area and would bury their deceased pets at the remote beach. As the area expanded to include new residents aside from the 'Lago Colony', they carried on the ritual. Today, the dunes are decorated with colorful tributes to loved pets no longer with us.
There are no amenities of any kind along the beach. Parking is located a very short walk from the sand's edge.
