This small trail system in the Francis Marion National Forest is great for a short nature hike with the family or a quick and easy mountain bike ride. The network is comprised of several connected loops of wide, flat trails. The scenery includes shady woodlands, freshwater ponds, marsh, and intracoastal wetland. You could cover a few miles by hiking or riding them all, but you need go only a short distance to reach a nice pond where you may spot birds, gators, frogs, turtles, and other wildlife. Approach ponds and clearings slowly and watchfully for your best chance of seeing animals before they see you.

You will pass a maintenence and research facility when entering the trail system, but no public services are available. Come prepared with water, snacks, and bug spray. Biting insects can be bad in the warmer months. The area is actively managed for forest and wetland wildlife habitat, so you may come across machinery and personal working on planting or clearing. The projects are part of U.S. Forest Service initiatives to restore the environment in this relatively remote part of South Carolina's Lowcountry.

Access is permitted year round, but some trails are closed seasonally to protect crucial habitat. Please mind closure signs and other posted information.
