Located just outside of downtown Nashville, Centennial Park offers an escape from the city without actually having to leave. Throughout the 132-acre park you will find numerous picnic areas, dog parks, playgrounds, sunken gardens, and even a small man-made pond with an encircling walkway. Popular with locals, the park is always bustling with activity, but there is enough space to escape the crowds and enjoy an afternoon in the park.
By far the most popular attraction in Centennial Park is the Parthenon. The Parthenon is an impressive full-size replica of the ancient Greek temple by the same name. It was built for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition in 1897 and has remained a popular Nashville attraction since. The interior of the Parthenon is open to the public, but there is a small entrance fee.
During the summer, free live concerts can often be found in the park on weekend evenings. Be sure to check online for the latest schedules, bring a blanket, and enjoy the park!
