The Birthing Scene Petroglyph Panel is a large boulder covered with Native American rock art. It is located up Kane Springs Road, just a little ways south of Moab. The Panel gets its name from one particular petroglyph that is interpreted to portray a breech birth.

The boulder can be found just off the road, and a pullout is located here with enough space for a vehicle or two to park. After the very brief stroll down off the road you’ll come to the boulder, which is fenced in to protect the petroglyphs. It should go without saying, but please do not cross the fence or touch the boulder.

In addition to the birthing petroglyph there are many others on all four sides of the boulder. The rock art here is thought to cover three different periods: Anasazi (AD 1 to AD 1275), Fremont (AD 450 to AD 1250) and Ute (AD 1200's to AD 1880). While in the area be sure to check out some of the other petroglyphs including Moonflower and Highway 279.
