The George Baker River Park is located in the town of Springdale, Utah - just outside the entrance of Zion National Park. While this small park may not compare to Zion, it still has a lot to offer including spectacular views.

The park is split into two sections by the beautiful Virgin River. On the near side is the river park with the typical amenities including picnic tables, BBQ grills, grassy areas, restrooms and drinking water. On the far side of the Virgin River you’ll find the Marj Bonner Dog Park.

After crossing the footbridge to the dog park area you’ll realize that it is much more than your typical dog park. There are hiking trails leading in multiple directions, and stunning views of some of the peaks in Zion National Park.

You can hike along the Virgin River and explore a nice sandy beach area, or hike toward the towering rock formations in the distance. And the best part is that your four legged friends are welcome to be off leash in this area of the park.

Note that parking is free (one of the few places in Springdale where this is the case) but limited.
