Near the west entrance of Capitol Reef National Park is a small overlook with nice views of the goosenecks of Sulfur Creek. The very short hike has views of the mountains and its sharp cliffs known as "reefs" and brings you to an overlook that has several interpretive signs with information about the canyon's geological formation.

Just like much of the landscape in this area, you will see some nice specimens of juniper and pinyon pine dotting the landscape along the 600-foot trail. You can see the three distinct layers of strata (Moenkopi, Kaibab, and White Rim sandstones) and rocks near the bottom that are older than anywhere else in the park. Most people drive right past this area, so you normally don't have to deal with crowds here.
