Camping choices at Dinosaur National Monument are limited. There are a few commercial campgrounds in Vernal, Jenson, and Dinosaur, Colorado; there are a few backcountry campgrounds like Rainbow Park or Jones Hole; and there is this campground, Green River, with its sister group camping area, Split Mountain.

The campground is spartan, but has marvelous views of the Green River and Split Mountain towering over it. In addition to drinking water and vault toilets, the campground has firewood for sale. Due to the remoteness of the park, the campground is rarely full. Reservations are available through September. Many of the sites are large enough for a big RV, and many are private and nice for tent campers. The ones along the loop roads by the river are particularly private and beautiful. This is a river flood plain, and the vegetation is unruly and not really trimmed--it may not be beautiful to some eyes, but it is a wonderfully serene and isolated spot to base an exploration of Dinosaur National Monument.

The campground is open from early-April to mid-October. When the campground is closed, nearby Split Mountain Group Campground is open as a first-come, first-served campground.
